On average it costs us $550.00 to vaccinate, heartworm test, fecal test, and spay or neuter one of our rescued dogs. This does not include any treatments for illnesses such as parasites, fleas, mange, heartworm, parvo, kennel cough, or pneumonia.
Our vet bills for a sick dog can easily run up to $1,000.00.
Any of our dogs that go into boarding facilities due to our limited foster space cost $600.00 a month.
Many of our dogs live with trainers to receive formal obedience training and socialization that costs $1,000.00 a month.
We do not begin to recover the investment we make in the health and well-being of our rescued dogs from our typical $100.00 to $150.00 adoption fees.
Huxter's Promise Fund
Huxter’s Promise Fund was created to honor the unforgettable life of Huxter and the promise we made to continue saving dogs like him. Huxter was found on the streets of Cleveland with a large tumor on his face. Shortly after entering our care, we learned it was a highly invasive cancerous tumor. While there was no cure, we gave Huxter the love, comfort, and dignity he deserved through hospice care. He spent his final weeks checking off a bucket list filled with adventures, making memories, and experiencing the joy every dog deserves before peacefully passing away.
Today, Huxter’s legacy lives on through this fund. Every donation goes directly toward providing life-saving medical care, hospice and palliative care, and other extraordinary veterinary expenses for dogs in need. Your generosity helps Fido’s Companion Rescue keep our promise to Huxter by giving more dogs a chance to experience love, comfort, and hope—no matter how difficult their journey may be.
